As a doctor practicing in the UAE, one of the most common deficiencies I see is – ironically – Vitamin D.
We live in a country blessed with sunshine almost every day of the year, yet patients often come in with low Vitamin D levels.
The usual response? Expensive supplement treatments, IV infusions, weekly injections… clinics are making a fortune on something that, frankly, doesn’t need to be this complicated.
The truth is, most cases of Vitamin D deficiency in the UAE aren’t due to lack of availability – but rather lack of exposure. We spend most of our time indoors, in offices, cars, malls, and under layers of sunscreen. The sun’s out, but we’re not in it.
So what’s the smarter alternative?
Regular, safe sun exposure. Just 15-20 minutes a day, ideally in the early morning or late afternoon, can naturally boost your Vitamin D levels without costing you a dirham. Combine this with a balanced diet including fatty fish, egg yolks, and fortified dairy products, and you’re more than likely to see results.
Before signing up for another overpriced injection package, ask yourself: have I tried the simplest solution?
Let’s not over-medicalize what nature is already offering us for free.
At Prague Clinics, we focus on what’s truly in your best interest – starting with honest, prevention-first care that actually makes sense for life in the UAE.
